A career at sea provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for school leavers and graduates seeking a varied and rewarding life.

North Star offers one of the best Cadet Programmes in Scotland. The company sponsors 21 individuals through the programme every year. This is fully funded by North Star who also provide accommodation for trainees outwith the area.

If you would like a career at sea and have a minimum of 4 standard grade passes to include English, Maths, Science, and one other, you could enter our programme. The three year training involves time at sea as well as training at Glasgow Nautical College, North Atlantic Fisheries College in Shetland, or Banff & Buchan College in Fraserburgh. 

At the end of the cadet programme you will receive your certificate of competency for either Deck Officer or Marine Engineer Officer, depending on the course chosen.
